I have the book and love it, but I don't see how it can any more than theory.

Joel, An excellent place to start is with Jim Jordan's Crisis Opportunity & The Christian Future. There is a lot of background here that was pre-supposed. This booklet gives a very good overview.

Depends on what constitutes proof. The Bible's history of God's Kingdom moves from tribal republics to kingdom/s to empire. And, at the same time, the other peoples roundabout are moving through the same progression. For instance, kings and capital cities appear in Israel and the surrounding nations at the same time. Prior to this, the tribes of Israel contend with various -ites and -ims. There's a good deal more that can be said, but this may be enough to show you where we've started.

How can we prove any theory of history? Why start with tribal/monarchical/empire rather than any other model? Aren't they all just guesses?

I find this a very, very interesting post and would be interested in elaboration on each part. Any sources for further reading, or any particular influences you think would be worth exploring?
